School of Languages, Civilisation and Philosophy (SLCP) Conference
As you know, research students are required to take AW and RM classes. I took AW under Dr M, from SLCP. Kes kurelakan jiwa, kena jadi committee untuk postgrad club sana. haha! most of the committees are my classmates je. imagine how small we are. So, awal-awal tu memang dah kena brief that we are going to organize a conference. Sort of mental preparation kan.
Weeks passed by, meetings, underground works and taraaa! conference is on Dec,4 :)
A day before conference memanglah rasa nervous sebab i've never been to any academic conference. Lepastu volunter jadi chairperson. kartun sangat. of course, the theme itself deviates far from quantitative sciences.
On the other hand rasa seronok sebab well, academic is ageless, limitless. kau umur berapa sekalipun, family background apa pun, as long as you are willing to have an open heart and open mind, this is the platform to acquire more knowledge. Sebab, bila buat research ni, ada masa kita lost, ada masa rasa method/lr/data tu dah paling cun. Tapi, bila masuk conference, present your work in front of panels, peers and public, just know that you won't only received good comments and appraisal.
Logic thinking, panels gonna say,
"why you don't do A? why B?"
"what are you write actually?"
"i think A is much better than C"
Even the simplest thing they will noticed like,
"how do you know it is A?"
Serious peeps, it is not that easy to explain what are you doing and defend it even you are studying it in depth for few months/years. That is why some students still unable to proposal defend (PD) early. Yo have to have a very strong basic to know what you gonna do and involve for your postgrad life.
Even me, now, i start to lose myself. rasa lost.
"apa benda la yang aku buat ni."
"1 sem dah cari data tak dapat-dapat."
Duk buat Chapter 1, 2, 3 tak habis-habis. Apa pun, jangan give up.
S (2018) said PhD sometimes stand for Personal head Damage but M (2018) clarifies yang kepala dia still attached sampai sekarang. teehee
